2025 Summer Reading Program at Jeudevine Memorial Library

Summer Reading Sign-Up at the Hardwick Farmer’s Market: Friday, June 20, 3-6 – Youth of all ages can go to the Youth Booth and sign up for the summer reading program! All participants receive a Bingo sheet with summer reading activities, a bookmark, and a voucher for the Champlain Valley Fair Read and Win program. Reading trackers will also be available for those who would like to track books read over the summer. Participants will have a chance to win raffle prizes, which will be announced at the end of the program!

Dada for Kids* (Drawing Games) with Leif Goldberg: Tuesday, July 1 at 2:00 – Come one, come all to participate in collaborative drawing games on big paper with lots of colors! With the intention of a Dada artist, we will create imaginative and unexpected drawings to tickle your fancy. Prepare to be surprised by what you can do! *inspired by the parlor games of the Dada/Surrealist artists of the 1920s. Ages 8 and up.

Teen Magic the Gathering Tournament: Thursday, July 3 from 11:00-1:00 – Bring your own deck to compete! Ages 12 and up.

Building a Comic Strip with Adam Beckley: Tuesday, July 8 at 2:00 – Learn the basics of building your very own comic strip from writing out a script, sketching thumbnails, and putting it all together! All levels of art experience are welcome. Ages 7 and up.

Teen Jewelry Making: Thursday, July 10 at 11:00 – Teens ages 12-18 will gather to make jewelry to sell at the Hardwick Farmer’s Market Youth Market on Friday, July 11, 3-6! The library will provide all materials.

Rock Painting: Tuesday, July 15 at 2:00 – Paint and decorate rocks at the library’s community garden plot at Hazen Union High School. Leave the rocks in the garden or take them home. Ages 5 and up.

Sock Monsters with Nora: Thursday, July 17 at 11:00 – Join Nora to make your own silly sock monsters! All ages.

The Colorful World of Butterflies with Jerry Schneider: Tuesday, July 22 at 11:00 – We will see slides of our local butterflies and learn more about them, then take part in a fun butterfly t-shirt craft. Cotton t-shirts available for $5.00, or kids may bring their own. Ages 5 and up.

PJ Story Time: Wednesday, July 23 at 5:00 – Wear your PJs and join us for books, songs, and more! Recommended for ages 5 and under.

Eating the Rainbow with Reeve Basom: Tuesday, July 29 at 2:00 – Explore colorful, fresh ingredients while preparing simple, delicious food to eat together. All ages.

Teen Summer Snacks: Thursday, July 31 at 11:00 – Make delicious summery snacks like watermelon pizza, s’mores dip, and more! Ages 12-18.

Music and Movement: Tuesday, August 5 at 10:30 – We’ll break out the colorful scarves and other instruments for a fun music program! Ages 5 and under.

Summer Reading Wrap-Up Party: Thursday, August 7 at 11:00 – All summer reading participants are invited to celebrate with an ice cream party! Reading certificates will be given and raffle prize winners will be announced.
